Rome, Italy

Bus Tour
On our first morning in Rome, we took a bus tour to get an over view of the sites in Rome. It was of the hop on - hop off (HoHo) variety so we could use it was a method of getting between places.
Vatican - St. Peter's
We spent much of the 1st day at St. Peter's - from about noon until the late afternoon. The Vatican is it's own country so we had to first cross a little border.
Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps
Two more famous Rome landmarks . . . and two of it's most popular with tourists! Note that all the pics have 'tanta' people in them!
Vatican Museums
The vatican museusm. These have loads of treasure on display. It's almost vulgar.
Castel San'Angelo
One of the most original monuments in Rome, dates back to the Roman period. It is a military museum with many beautiful views of the city.
Pantheon
Apparently it's in the best condition of the domed structures from its period. Architecturally it's spectacular because of the large dome - the largest masonry vault ever built.
Colosseum
One of the most famous sites in Rome . . . without a doubt.
Ostia Antica
The beautifully preserved ruins of Ostia lie twenty miles from Rome, in the meadows between the Tiber River and the Tyrrhenian Sea.
