China is a state in East Asia. The PRC has a coastline of 14,500 kilometres (9,010 mi), and borders (clockwise from south to northeast) Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, and North Korea. Its capital is Beijing.

In China we visited 3 cities - Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou. We also visited the Great Wall of China at Badaling, near Beijing.

Shanghai
Shanghai is the largest city of the People's Republic of China and the eighth largest in the world. Widely regarded as the citadel of China's modern economy, the city also serves as one of the most important cultural, commercial, financial, industrial and communications centers of China.

In Shanghai, we stayed right in the heart of the shopping district - Nanjing Road. We explored this area and the Bund and also ventured into the old part of the city. We also took a day trip out to Hangzhou.

Beijing
Beijing a city in northern China, is the capital of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It was formerly known in English as Peking or Peiking. It's the administrative and cultural capital of China and will host the 2008 Olympics.

In Beijing we visited the Forbidden City and Tiannamen Square. We also took a day-excursion when we visited the Great Wall, Ming Tombs and a jade factory.
