Ulan Bator, or Ulaanbaatar, is the capital of the republic of Mongolia. Its population is estimated at 961,900, about third of the national population. Ulan Bator is located slightly east of the center of Outer Mongolia on the Tuul Gol (or Tola) River, a subtributary of the Selenga, in a valley at the foot of the mountain Bogda Uul.
In UB we visited the Gandan Monastery, Buddha Park, Sukhbaatar Square and the monument for the Russian soldiers.
