Thailand - The land of smiles! Photos from my trip to Thailand in May 2004. My first trip to Asia. Most of my time was spent in Phuket and the surrounding areas. I hooked up with my pal Linda and met lots of new and fun people.
Arrival
Cool pics I took on the flight from Bangkok to Phuket. I was a bit bored as I had flown 12 hours alreday plus a 2 hours wait at Bangkok airport.
Wat Chalong
My first day in Thailand I rented a vehicle and visited a buddhist temple. Its the largest one in Phuket. Wat is thai for temple.
Surat Thani
I spent 2 days in a village near Surat Thani . . . way off the beaten tourist path. It was a very interesting experience - a chance to see rural Thailand. We also visited this mountain park with a great view.
Lem Hin
A floating restaurant. You get there by long tail boat. Its actually a restaurant and fish farm combined.
Tropical Fruit
I like fruit and Thailand had lots of strange ones Some were totally new and some were only slightly different to what we have in the Caribbean. My favourite was Rambutan. So much that I've been nicknamed Ngaw (the thai word for rambutan).
Island Tour
Just a quick trip around the island without venturing too far from the main roads. So basically its up the middle of the island and down the west coast.
Phang Nga Bay
Phang Nga Bay is famous for the sheer limestone cliffs that jut vertically out of the emerald green water. A very beautiful place! Its been used in quite a few films. The most famous one being James Bond - The Man with the Golden Gun.
People
These are a few of the people I met and spent time with in Thailnd. A very hospitable and fun bunch they were.
Misc. Thai
Miscellaneous photos from my trip that didn't warrant their own albums.
